I swear, every single time I start an editing project, I feel like I don’t know WTF I’m doing for the first 30% of the book. I know what I’m doing, but I also don’t. Does that make sense? 🤣

It gets better the more I get into the book, but good grief!

I just had a convo with another editor (shout-out to @mollyrookbooks) about how we talk to ourselves vs. our clients.

Chances are, we talk to ourselves in a much harsher tone than we ever would with our clients (I mean, you should see some of the comments I’ve left to myself in a doc 🫣).

But there are simple reframes we can implement to be more gentle with ourselves. They might seem small or trivial, but they do make a difference.
